Meet The Beaver
Hi, I'm Tom — and this is The Shy Beaver Workshop.
I started this project in early 2024 with no grand plan. I just knew I wanted it to be a bit different from the norm — more grounded, more real.
🪓 It didn’t start with a passion for woodwork.
Just the odd fence panel and a walk through the woods.
But something shifted in mid-2023 — I started noticing the wood around me.
Not in shops.
In skips, broken pallets, and offcuts left behind.
♻️ So I stopped buying… and started collecting.
Like many, I caught the bug.
Now I work with reclaimed timber — pallets, rafter ends, and the good kind of leftovers.
I build everything by hand. No factory. No team.
Just me, in a small workshop with a stubborn streak and a pile of offcuts.
🔨 I don’t always know how a build will turn out.
Sometimes it works.
Sometimes it doesn’t.
That’s the bit I love — it’s messy, real, and always evolving.
🌱 If it makes someone smile or find a new use for it…
Then it’s done its job.
Because every piece has a past.
And now, maybe, a future too.
Where The Beaver's Headed
I’m still learning as I go — not every idea works out, but that’s part of it.
This workshop is small, but it’s built on big ideas: reuse, respect, and second chances.
My aim is to keep creating useful, thoughtful pieces from what others leave behind — and maybe help people see waste in a different light.
If this little workshop can support my family and spark a few new ways of thinking along the way, I’ll call that a job well done.
